Federer oldest man to win Grand Slam. Serena Williams sets new record

Rodger Federer became the oldest man to win a Grand Slam singles title in 45 years. He defeated Rafael Nadal, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, to win the Australian Open 2017 for the 5th time. Roger Federer always commits, he is Rafael Nadal’s “No. 1 fan”. But it is also a truth that every time if someone asks him about his losing record to the Nadal, he recollects the early years of their rivalry when they used to play more often on clay. Between 2005 and 2008, in Rome, Monte Carlo and Paris, Nadal feasted on Federer.

On the other hand, Serena Williams won Australian Open final on Saturday night (28 January, 2017),  pushing aside her older sister. Serena defeated her elder sister Venus Williams by 6-4, 6-4 to win the Australian Open trophy for a 7th time that is itself a brand new record. At the age of 35, she is the only player – in man or woman category – to win 23rd Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era.
