Indian Economic Service (IES Exam 2017) Detailed Notification : Apply, Age and Qualification

Today we will discuss about IES (Indian Economic Service/भारतीय आर्थिक सेवा परीक्षा 2017) detailed notification in which we will mention how to apply for this exam, age criteria, total posts and educational qualification that you need. IES advertisement has been issued on 08/02/2017 by UPSC in its official website. Date of Commencement of Examination is 12/05/2017 and examination period is three days. Notification PDF is available here, click to open.

The examination for IES (Indian Economic Service/भारतीय आर्थिक सेवा परीक्षा 2017) will follow the pattern described below:

Part I. Written examination will carry a maximum of 1000 marks.

Part II. Viva voce (interview/Personality Test) of successful candidates as may be called by the Commission after clearing written exam.

All  papers of Indian Economic Service will be of subjective/descriptive type.

What is the Educational qualification for IES?

All the candidates interested in applying for Indian Economic Service need to have a Postgraduate degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ BE-Business Economics/ Econometric from a recognized university/institute.

What is the Age limit?

The minimum age of applicants should be 21 years and maximum age should be 30 years.

Mode of language?

ALL QUESTION PAPERS MUST BE ANSWERED IN ENGLISH; QUESTION PAPERS WILL BE SET IN ENGLISH ONLY.

How to apply for IES

You can apply only through online process. You are required to apply online only by visiting the website www.upsconline.nic.in . You can check out the brief instructions for filling up the online application form given in the official notification’s Appendix-II.

Is there any negative marking?

No, there is a negative marking in IES examination because all its papers are of subjective/Conventional (essay) kind in nature.

What if I am in final year of MASTERS?

Yes you can apply as an appearing candidate. But you must have your masters degree (attested copies) in the month of August, 2017. You will have to submit certificate of Age and Certificate of Educational Qualification indicating the Subjects.
